SINGAPORE - The body of a Caucasian male was retrieved by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers from the Singapore River near Collyer Quay Thursday night at 11.25pm.
The Straits Times reported that the man drowned after a fall from the seventh floor of Fullerton Bay Hotel, where the rooftop bar and pool was located.
When a member of the public alerted SCDF that someone had jumped into the river, the SCDF was dispatched and arrived at the site within 6 minutes.
SCDF's Disaster and Rescue Team started to search from where he had fallen, then moved upstream the Singapore River.
The divers finally retrieved the body of the man, who was believed to be in his 30s, around 2am. It was found about 2 metres away from the river bank.
He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Where the man fell from, apparently there is another barrier beyond the glass panels at the edge of the rooftop.
It is not known how he fell, and the police are still investigating the case. However, the case has been classified as unnatural death.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
