The body of Mr Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, a 56-year-old senior customs officer who had been a suspect in a major graft case, was found outside the MACC offices in Kuala Lumpur at around 10.15am.
The man had been detained last week as part of a crackdown on dozens of customs personnel suspected of involvement in laundering billions of dollars abroad.
He was freed on bail and went to the commission's office yesterday morning to discuss his case, the agency said in a statement.
Mr Ahmad reportedly disappeared when an official left him alone in a room for a few minutes but employees who searched the compound soon found his body sprawled on the ground outside.
The man was believed to have fallen from the third floor of the building because they saw a broken window there.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Zulkifli Abdullah said the authorities have classified the case as "sudden death".
The death is likely to renew pressure on the government to address accusations of intimidation, excessive force and a lack of transparency in how the police and other authorities handle suspects.
