Bus molester detained by commuters

At about 9 am yesterday, a 26-year-old woman on board an SBS bus was allegedly molested by an unknown man standing beside her.

When she confronted him about the incident, he punched her face. This attracted the attention of three commuters, 30 year-old Koh Kah Chong, 38 year-old Sng Teck Leong and 42 year-old Ng Kim Wan, who immediately went to her assistance.

After a violent struggle, the three managed to detain the suspect. The police were then notified, and they took custody of the suspect upon arrival.

The suspect, 48-year-old man, will be charged in court tomorrow. If convicted of outrage of modesty, he may be imprisoned for a term which may extend to 2 years, or with fine, or with caning or with any combination of such punishments.

His other offence of Voluntarily Causing Hurt carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, or with fine which may extend to $5,000, or with both.
