Two Officers Wounded, Suspect Killed In Shootout

CHICAGO – The officers were taking a handcuffed suspect to the Near North police station when he fired the weapon. The officers exited the car and returned fire, killing the suspect.

“We thought this might be filming of “The Chicago Code.” I’ve been living here seven years and I haven’t heard shots once,” said a witness.

A 37-year-old officer was in good condition with a bullet wound to the back, officials said. His 60-year-old partner suffered minor cuts on his hands.

“This incident clearly shows the uncertainty and the danger that the officers face every day,” police Supt. Jody Weis said.
