Transport fare review deferred

SINGAPORE - Bus and train fares will remain unchanged until the end of this year, after the Public Transport Council (PTC) announced yesterday that it will defer its annual fare review to the fourth quarter.

PTC chairman Gerard Ee said the deferment of the review - which was slated to take place in July - would coincide with the opening of Stages 4 and 5 of the Circle Line.

The move will "minimise any inconvenience and confusion, as (commuters) will experience at most one round of fare adjustments if the PTC decides to adjust public transport fares this year", said Mr Ee.
