Police officer fatally injured at shooting range
Sgt. Jerry Webber, 44, of Eugene, Oregon was removing a hunting rifle from the back of his vehicle when it discharged, fatally striking him, said Capt. Bill Thompson, a sheriff's spokesman.
"There is currently no information to suggest that this incident was anything other than unintentional in nature," Thompson said.
Emergency dispatchers said Webber was off-duty at the time.
