A MAN was convicted on Monday of head-butting his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter on two occasions and for ill-treating her between September and October 2009.
Mohd Azhar Ghapar, 30, was helping his girlfriend to look after Sri Alyaniz Nazri at Pending Road in Bukit Panjang when the offences took place.
The unemployed man pleaded guilty to two counts of causing grievous hurt and three of pinching and punching her which caused her unnecessary physical pain.
The girl was found unconscious on Oct 10 that year and taken to hospital where she died four days later of traumatic brain injury.
The prosecution is seeking at least 12 years and caning for Azhar on the serious hurt charge. The maximum is 10 years and a fine.
District Judge Lee Poh Choo will sentence him on March 1.
