Austin - Police were called to the home after the father of the children, John Bennett, called police, saying he was concerned about the well being of his estranged wife and children.
Officers had to force their way into the home on New York Street in Austin, southern Indiana Friday afternoon and once inside, found the bodies of 30-year-old Amanda Bennett and her children, Jasmine Abbott, 14, Katelynn Bennett, 9, and four-year-old Ryan Bennett and parts of the house apparently burned. State police say they were all shot in the head. A preliminary autopsy also showed that Amanda and Katelynn Bennett had died of smoke inhalation.
