Wolves 0 Liverpool 3
Raul Meireles put in an inspired display as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

Meireles supplied Fernando Torres with the first of his two goals before killing off a spirited Wolves team with a brilliant shot of his own early in the second period to seal Liverpool's first win since Kenny Dalglish's return to the club.

While Wolves can feel aggrieved at a score line that flattered the visitors, there is no doubt that Liverpool earned their win courtesy of ruthless finishing.

Arsenal 3 Wigan 0
Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick - and missed a penalty - as Arsenal romped to a 3-0 victory over 10-man Wigan on Saturday.

The Dutch star struck after 21, 58 and 85 minutes for the revitalised Gunners who have now lost only once in their last nine league games.

Everton 2 West Ham 2
West Ham came within seconds of climbing out of the relegation zone but ended bottom of the table after a 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday.

Avram Grant's men took the lead through Jonathan Spector in the first half and defended stoically until substitute Diniyar Bilyaletdinov equalised with15 minutes to go.

Frederic Piquionne's elation at scoring what he thought was the winner was wiped away by a red card for a second bookable offence. But the goal still looked like a decisive one, which would have lifted the Hammers out of the bottom three.

But, with seconds remaining, Marouane Fellaini ensured the points would be shared with a composed finish in injury time. The first half was equally balanced with both teams going close.

Manchester United 5 Birmingham 0
Dimitar Berbatov fired in his third hat-trick of the season as Manchester United cruised past Birmingham 5-0 in a one-sided encounter at Old Trafford.

The Bulgarian was at his stunning best as he made it 17 goals in 18 league starts to cement his place at the top of the English Premier League goal-scoring charts.

Veteran Ryan Giggs, who was as fresh and energetic as anyone on the pitch, and Nani got the others as United maintained their top-of-the-table form with their 11th win from 12 at home.

Newcastle 1 Tottenham 1
The opener came from the most unlikely source. Joey Barton spotted that Coloccini had advanced into the Spurs penalty area and delivered a perfect cross-field pass, allowing the Argentine to chest the ball down and neatly dispatch it into the far corner after 58 minutes.

However, Lennon scored in the 90th minute to cancel out the rare, but sweetly struck, Fabricio Coloccini goal in a match where the north London club failed to find their usual fluent style.

Aston Villa 1 Man City 0
Aston Villa's new record signing, the 24-million-pound Darren Bent was given a rapturous welcome by the Villa Park faithful on his debut and he repaid them in the best possible way, with his 18th minute striking sealing a 1-0 result.
