Soccer: S'pore Under-21 lose 2-0 to Malaysia

SINGAPORE : Singapore football has seen a decline recently, with the National Team exiting the first round of the AFF Suzuki Cup and the squad subsequently disbanded.

On Monday evening, National coach Raddy Avramovic was back in action - the first time since the failed AFF Cup campaign - leading the Lions Under-21 team against their Malaysian counterparts in a friendly match.

Singapore was hoping to groom its youngsters, and was using the match to prepare for next month's Olympic qualifiers against Yemen.

But despite the home ground advantage, it was the Malaysians who took the lead, with Irfan Fazail scoring in the 23rd minute.

Malaysia went 2-nil up, when Syahrul Azwari scored just before the break.
