Public Tip-Off Leads To Arrest Of Serial AMK Estate Housebreaker

Police have arrested a 44 year-old man believed to be involved in a series of break-ins in the Ang Mo Kio Estate.

On 27 January 2011 at about 10.30 am , a vigilant resident, Mr Boh, alerted the Police on sighting a suspicious man loitering at the common corridor of a HDB block at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. He also provided a good description of the man.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division responded promptly and located a man fitting the description given at one of the upper floors of the said block. Following an interview, he was placed under arrest for housebreaking. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was believed to be involved in at least four cases of break-ins in the Ang Mo Kio Estate.

The suspect will be charged in the Court 26 on 29 January 2011 for Housebreaking and Theft by Night (under enhanced punishment) which carries a maximum of 14 years imprisonment and shall be liable for caning.
