Car workshops are these days seeing more customers too, as owners decide to hang on to their cars past the warranty period.
The Singapore Motor Workshop Association, which represents about one-third of the 1,200 independent car workshops in Singapore, says there has been a 20-per-cent increase in maintenance work, compared to a month or two ago.
Many of these owners are also going to independent workshops which offer cheaper servicing packages compared to what is available at official car distributors.
The association said its members are also seeing more cars which are more than three years old being sent for regular servicing.
