How to invent a popular sport and then suck at it? Ask England

  1. it's not just THIS match alone, or even THIS world cup. england's problem start at or near the roots.

    1. their players play too many games than necessary during the course of their season

    > the FA should just stick to the EPL and the FA cup. on top of that, to include a 'winter break' during their soccer season like what many northern european coutries are doing.

    2. too many foreigners in the english teams

    > being able to afford it, english teams usually just adopt this quick-fix solution to buy good players from overseas leaving less room for their own local boys to rise through the ranks

    3. the point above wouldn't be a problem if there were many english boys plying their trade overseas in the big leagues, but THAT is not the case

    > instead they choose to play in the english lower leagues whenever they cannot secure a move in any of the EPL teams

    CONCLUSION: by adopting a 'profits at all cost approach' they have shot themselves in the foot... and they will continue doing so.
