LOW-WAGE workers will receive more incentives to go for training from Thursday, when the Government launches its Workfare Training Support (WTS) scheme. They stand to get an allowance for attending upgrading courses and cash when they complete their courses, which will be subsidised by up to 95 per cent.
Employers who send these workers for training will get a subsidy too, of up to 95 per cent of an employee's wages.
On Sunday, the Manpower Ministry and the Workforce Development Agency spelt out in greater detail the scheme in a statement, released in conjunction with Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong's visit to Kebun Baru ward in Ang Mo Kio GRC. MORE
