Team Singapore's Asian Para Games athletes were given a rousing send-off at the Changi Airport on Monday morning (Oct 13). Around 200 people turned up to show their support.
Singapore is sending a 53-strong contingent to compete in 11 sports. Several will be taking part in their first Asian Para Games, including Jason Chee, the navy serviceman who lost both his legs and left arm in an accident on board a ship in December 2012.
The table tennis player said: "I feel very happy because this is my debut, my first Asian Para Games in Incheon. So I will do my very best to fly the Singapore flag high."
Also striking a note of confidence was shooter Aishah Samad. "The other competitors, they did their training, I did my training. I'm sure I'm as good as them. That is my confidence. I don't want much, just a gold medal."
The Asian Para Games runs from this weekend till Oct 23.
