A meeting was held between ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and Singapore Sports Hub officials on Wednesday (Oct 15) afternoon.

This was to determine if the 2014 Suzuki Cup Group B matches will go ahead at the National Stadium as planned, amid an outcry over the state of the pitch.

However, officials will only make a decision by next week.

Singapore had been confirmed as the co-host of the AFF Suzuki Cup since April last year but many had expressed doubts that the hybrid turf at the National Stadium would be in good enough condition by the time the tournament rolls round on Nov 23.

Late Tuesday, Sport Singapore took issue with the "sub-standard readiness" of the pitch during a Brazil-Japan friendly the same day, and urged the Sports Hub management to "do everything necessary" to ensure the pitch meets AFF requirements.

The pitch appeared sandy and patchy during the Brazil-Japan match. Mr Greg Gillin, Senior Director of Stadia at the Singapore Sports Hub on Monday said S$1.5 million was recently invested in lighting technology to ensure that the grass gets enough light to grow.
