Rebecca Loh was an unemployed single mother with a history of mental issues and violence - including attacks on her own mother.

Her only child suffered from serious medical conditions from birth. His failing liver caused his bones to be brittle, and made him severely malnourished.

Questions are now being raised as to why an ill woman was allowed to take care of a severely sick child.

On Wednesday, 32-year-old Loh was sentenced to 10 years in jail for causing the death of her nine-year-old son last June by pushing him out of their home's fifth-storey window.
