Singapore's military gathers to celebrate National Day

National Day Observance ceremonies took place all over the island on Friday (Aug 8), as the country prepares for its 49th birthday on Saturday.

More than 2,000 personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) recited the National Pledge and sang the National Anthem.

All SAF units - including overseas training detachments - will be holding observance ceremonies to celebrate National Day.
