An act of mischief marred National Day decorations at a Housing and Development Board estate in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 yesterday.

Singapore flags that had been tied to bollards by town council workers in the build-up to the National Day celebrations last Saturday were discovered felled early yesterday morning.

Police officers were seen clearing up the damage when Channel NewsAsia got to the scene at about 2pm.

Town council workers were also seen putting up new flags. They said the flag poles were broken but there was no damage to the flags.

Responding to queries, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 6.30am. They have classified the case as an act of mischief and are investigating.
