Louis van Gaal is ready to show his ruthless streak as Manchester United return home from their US tour.

The new United boss used the five-city trek to assess his players ahead of the new campaign.

Marouane Fellaini, Nani, Shinji Kagawa, Wilfried Zaha and Anderson are among those he is ready to show the door.

Striker Javier Hernandez is another, with Atletico Madrid stepping up their efforts to sign him and United team-mate Kagawa in a double swoop before the new season.

Van Gaal said: “I shall make judgments after this tour. I have let all the players play and I know now more than before the tour.

"It is a little bit soon to judge, but in football you have to judge.”
