The inaugural Karting Championship was held at the F1 Pit Building on Saturday (Aug 30), in the lead-up to the Singapore Grand Prix.

The championship is the finale to the Karting Training Programme, where 120 youths competed for fully-sponsored training sessions in June, and then for a spot in the finals.

Winning the junior race, for those aged 15 to 17 years, was Dominique Johann.

Muhammad Ridhwan clinched the trophy for the senior category, for those aged 18 to 21 years.

Besides the trophy, the winners also get a one-year karting scholarship worth over S$11,850.
