Arsenal and Manchester United fight over Mats Hummels' signature
The Gunners are ready to challenge Manchester United for the signature of Germany World Cup winner Mats Hummels.

United boss Louis van Gaal has been making all the running for Borussia Dortmund defender Hummels and, despite insistences from his club that he is going nowhere, there is a belief that the player may be available for £30million.

And it is understood that the Londoners will not allow the Old Trafford giants' interest in the 25-year-old to go unchallenged.

United are also keen to sign Arsenal centre-half Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian, rated at £10m, will be a free agent next summer.

Liverpool complete Javier Manquillo transfer
Liverpool have made their seventh signing of an extravagant summer after completing a deal for rising Spanish star Javier Manquillo on a two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid.

But the agreement also offers the option of making the move permanent next summer, for a fee of around £5million and add-ons that have yet to be finalised.

Manquillo is regarded as a potential successor in the national side to Juanfran, who is his senior team-mate and keeps him out of the team at Atletico Madrid.

And an eighth capture will swiftly follow as the Reds inch closer to thrashing out an agreement over their chief defensive target of the summer, Sevilla’s exciting left-back Alberto Moreno.

Man United close in on Angel Di Maria
Manchester United are believed to be prepared to hijack a move for PSG bound Angel Di Maria, by matching Real Madrid’s £55million pound asking price for the player, according to Sport.

United are believed to have tracked Di Maria for the majority of the summer, but they looked set to lose out on the winger last week after PSG agreed terms with Real Madrid for the player.

However, recent reports suggest United will go ahead and match PSG’s offer, and will try and force through a move tonight when United face Madrid in a pre-season friendly.

It’s believed Real Madrid would prefer to sell to Manchester United, as they can offer cash up front, whereas PSG can only take Di Maria on-loan this year before making the £55million pound payment next summer.

Di Maria’s future looks set to become clear in the next few days, as all parties involved want a quick resolution.
