Mario Balotelli arrives at Melwood
Mario Balotelli has arrived at Melwood ahead of completing his shock switch to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old jetted over from Milan earlier on Friday after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £16million.

With his medical likely to be a formality Balotelli could officially become a Liverpool player as early as Friday evening.

Earlier this month boss Brendan Rodgers was adamant the Italian international wasn't on his transfer radar, but a drop in Milan's asking price saw a deal resurrected on Thursday.

LVG to turn down Angel Di Maria move
Louis van Gaal is now working from a transfer B-list after seeing his first-choice targets fail to come off, writes our man David McDonnell.

The Dutchman is frustrated United have failed to sign the likes of Toni Kroos, Mats Hummels and Thomas Vermaelen this summer - three of his major targets.

And with just 10 days to go until the window shuts, Van Gaal has been forced to revise his buying strategy.

The Express reports Louis van Gaal will pass up on the opportunity to sign Di Maria - because he doesn't want to stop Adnan Januzaj's development.

The Belgian broke into the Old Trafford first-team last term and has been given the No.11 shirt this season - famously worn by Ryan Giggs during his United career.

And Van Gaal believes his player can have a major impact on his side but will need regular starting opportunities to do so.

It is also reported the Dutchman now only wants to strengthen his defence and central midfield before the window shuts.

Chelsea reportedly offer Fernando Torres to Roma in exchange for Mattia Destro
Chelsea have reportedly offered striker Fernando Torres to Roma in exchange for Italy forward Mattia Destro.

The Blues are understood to be prepared to loan Torres to Roma for the season as part of a deal to take Destro, one of Europe's most coveted strikers, to Stamford Bridge.

Torres has scored just 20 goals in 110 Premier League games for The Blues since joining from Liverpool for a record £50m in 2011 and is viewed by many to have flopped at Stamford Bridge.

Destro, 23, scored 13 goals for Roma in Serie A last season and is believed to be worth around £20m.

The Times reports that Roma are interested in signing Torres if the clubs can reach an agreement over the Spain star's £180,000-a-week wages.

Monaco plot move for Petr Cech
Mega-rich Monaco have put together a £10million package to try to sign Chelsea keeper Petr Cech.

The French club are prepared to give Cech, 32, a three-year big-money deal to lure him away from Stamford Bridge.

He has been left bitterly disappointed after being kept in the dark by Jose Mourinho, who appears to have made Thibaut Courtois his new No.1.

Chelsea legend Cech was not told of Mourinho’s decision ahead of the Burnley game when the Belgian started and Courtois will now be given a new five-year contract.

Cech’s situation has also alerted Paris Saint-Germain and both clubs are keen to sign the goalkeeper who is still rated as one of the best in the world.

Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim is pushing the club to make move and they are ready to make Chelsea an offer. Mourinho has urged Cech to stay but it remains to be seen what the outcome will be.

Tottenham plot £8million swoop for Federico Fazio
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has lined up an £8m move for Sevilla centre-half Federico Fazio.

Spurs have been in the market for Villarreal's £17m-rated Mateo Musacchio but have struggled to get a deal done.

Argentinian defender Fazio, 27, has a buy-out clause and is now on their radar as Pochettino looks to strengthen his squad.

Manchester United send Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Wilfried Zaha head out ON LOAN
Manchester United will let Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Wilfried Zaha go ON LOAN in a shock move by Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman has assessed the young English trio and decided he wants them to go out for regular Premier League football before deciding whether he wants to use them long-term.

News of the decision flashed round the Premier League grapevine yesterday as interested clubs formed a queue for striker Welbeck, midfielder Cleverley and winger Zaha.

Van Gaal does not want to write off the players and thinks they would benefit from spell at rival teams in a typically decisive move by the straight-talking manager.

Welbeck has been a target for Hull - as Mirror Sport revealed - but they have now looked elsewhere. Sunderland would also like him for a second loan spell.

Cleverley was on Everton's hit list but that moment may have passed. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is immediately on red alert for him.

Zaha is fancied by old club Crystal Palace, Newcastle and QPR. He has been told by van Gaal that he has a future at Old Trafford and will only be sold if he wants to be.

Van Gaal has taken time to assess and already moved out Nani. However he is happy to loan his fringe men out rather than rip apart the squad he inherited.
