Motorists using the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) will incur higher costs from Aug 4, as four new electronic road pricing (ERP) gantries start charging.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) yesterday said that traffic speeds along two stretches of the AYE between Jurong Town Hall Road and North Buona Vista Road were below the optimal speed range of 45km/h to 65km/h during the morning and evening peak hours.

Three ERP gantries will thus start charging citybound cars S$2 after Jurong Town Hall and on the Clementi Ave 6 and Clementi Ave 2 slip roads leading to the highway from 7.30am to 9am. The three gantries will also charge S$1 in the evening between 6pm and 7pm.

Separately, Tuas-bound cars passing the gantry after North Buona Vista in the evening will be charged S$1 from 6pm to 6.30pm, and S$2 from 6.30pm to 7pm.
