There are just nine days left to the start of the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

Singapore will be represented by 309 athletes at this year's competition. And as part of their final preparations, a workshop was held to brief the athletes on all aspects of their participation.

The workshop was conducted for the athletes to ensure that they are prepared not just to compete, but also to fulfil their roles as ambassadors of their country.

It also covered the key values the athletes are expected to display alongside traditional issues such as medical and doping requirements.

Team Singapore's Chef-de-mission Annabel Pennefather said she expects the athletes to compete hard but at the same time to display sportsmanship.

She also advised the athletes not to waste their time arguing with referees decisions even if they think they are wrong because it's not going to help them.

Some sports like football, wushu and waterpolo start their competition even before the Opening Ceremony on December 11.

An advanced party from Singapore is already in Myanmar while Chef-de-mission Pennefather will depart on December 8.
