They may have only played one game at the South-east Asia (SEA) Games, but Singapore Under-23 captain Hariss Harun is already dreading elimination from the football tournament.

An average display saw the Young Lions conceding a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with 10-man Laos on Sunday.

Coach Aide Iskandar said the team will try to beat Vietnam in their crunch Group A match tonight, not only to get their campaign back on track, but also to support teammate Nazrul Ahmad Nazari, who left camp today to be with his seriously ill father.

Incredibly, the Young Lions have failed to win their opening SEA Games matches since 2003 but managed to return with bronzes in 2007 and 2009. Incidentally, in 2007, they were held 0-0 by Laos in their first match before they beat Vietnam 3-2 in the following game.

And Hariss wants a repeat of that spirit and result.
