A new arts training centre for youths, right in the heart of Singapore's shopping belt, will be ready in 2014.

Far East Organization will lease a space in Orchard Central to the Old Parliament House for the facility.

A car park occupying more than 13,000 square feet on the 10th floor of Orchard Central will be transformed into the training centre to include a theatre and studios for dance, music and visual arts.

A carnival was held at the carpark on Saturday to celebrate the handover of the space.
