Seasonal floods continued to inundate Malaysia’s state of Pahang, forcing more than 5,000 people in four districts to evacuate this morning (Dec 3).

The four affected districts were Rompin, Kuantan, Pekan and Maran, a police spokesman told Bernama.

According to the New Straits Times, Rompin was the worst hit district when 2,592 victims from 20 villages were relocated to flood relief centres.

Meanwhile, the number of flood victims in Johor also rose to 4,765 from 1,018 families this morning, as compared to 1,035 people from 306 families last night, Bernama reported.

Various parts of Malaysia, including Johor and Pahang, were hit by seasonal floods earlier yesterday as torrential rain poured. The situation is expected to worsen due to ongoing rain for the past two days.

No casualties were reported so far.
