Efforts are being ramped up to help elderly residents avoid falling prey to crime through a new initiative.
Called Silver Watch, the initiative was launched by the Ang Mo Kio Police Division on Sunday.
Assistant Commissioner Keok Tong San, Commander at Ang Mo Kio Police Division, said: "The elderly...are vulnerable to crime, not just in physical crime like snatch theft, but also to scams...kidnap scams...lottery scams...lucky draw scams.
"So we want to engage them more so we can advise them to be wary of some of these crimes and hopefully they can take the necessary measures to protect themselves."
Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division will engage elderly residents in the areas it oversees, through activities like home visits to share crime prevention advice.
There will be interactive patrols at areas with more elderly residents such as senior citizens corners and taiji exercise activity areas. Talks will be held at senior citizen activity centres as well.
The police hope elderly residents can also help to be the eyes and ears for the police in looking out for suspicious crime or activities in the neighbourhoods.
