A 47-year-old woman has been arrested for suspected involvement in loansharking activities, the police said today (Nov 28).

The suspect was spotted behaving suspiciously in the vicinity of Yishun Avenue 4 at about 6pm yesterday.

A resident called the police and officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division responding to the call tracked the suspect down.

Officers seized loanshark-related paraphernalia — such as a notebook containing debtors’ addresses, a black marker, wreaths and debtor notes — found on her.

The police said that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had been working for loansharks and had harassed debtors in Cheng Soon Garden and Yishun Estate by delivering wreaths with notes demanding repayment.
