Chinese national Sun Xiao Bo, 27, was grinding fish meat when his left forearm was stuck in the grinder. The incident took place yesterday at Leong Hin Foods at 15, Woodlands Loop.

His co-worker, Chinese national Yan Wei Ming, 24, said: “He was sobbing. I tried to comfort him, but he didn’t say a word and just cried.”

Another colleague, who declined to be named, said the sight was disturbing. The Chinese national, 29, said: “It looked like four of his fingers were missing. It was really scary.”

Four Singapore Civil Defence Force officers sawed through the nuts and bolts to remove the grinder from its housing. He was taken to hospital with a portion of the grinder still attached to his left arm. Part of the arm was later amputated.
