Even with only a few fights under her belt, Fallon Fox (3-1) has become one of the most controversial and discussed fighters in the world. The transgender woman was born a man before a sex change procedure years ago.

Fox’s choice to fight MMA against other women sparked controversy when it was discovered not long ago that she was born a man. Though fully licensed to fight in Florida, the concern from many was whether or not Fox had such an advantage over fighters who had been women, that she’d run roughshod over them.

Her first three fights did little to dispel those fears as Fox dominated opponents en route to violent wins. On Saturday night, however, Fox herself was beaten soundly and suffered her first career loss.

Ashlee Evans-Smith beat Fox with a third-round TKO (strikes on the ground) in what was just her second professional fight at the Championship Fighting Alliance 12 event in Coral Gables, Fl last night. Smith was a 7-1 underdog in the fight but her grappling and ground striking proved too much for Fox.

Evans-Smith is now the CFA women’s featherweight champion and improves to 2-0, overall.
