It was supposed to be deadline day for V Sundramoorthy, but the LionsXII coach said yesterday he is not ready to reveal his final decision on his future.
After weeks of speculation over whether he will leave for Malaysian club Negeri Sembilan, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) told The New Paper last week that they expected an answer from Sundram over whether he would accept their new offer by the end of last month.
Speaking to TNP yesterday, Sundram said: “I told them I will decide very soon, but right now, I just want to focus on the job at hand, which is to get to the Malaysia Cup final.”
The LionsXII go into the second leg of their Malaysia Cup quarter-final against ATM FA at Selayang on Friday 1-0 up. The reigning Malaysian Super League (MSL) champions are 90 minutes away from a spot in the semi-finals, which perhaps explains why the 47-year-old is reluctant to give an answer.
Responding to queries from TNP, an FAS spokesman said: “Coach Sundram had earlier informed us that he will let us know of his decision by the end of September. However, he has since requested for another week to consider the offer.”
