Singapore police organised a community event at Lentor estate on Saturday to raise awareness of crime among foreign domestic helpers.
The event was also aimed at enlisting domestic helpers to fight crime in private housing estates.
Police said foreign domestic helpers are a mainstay of private housing estates, and they often have close bonds.
They could help one another look out for criminals who might be surveying the estate in the day for targets that they could hit on later.
Training foreign domestic helpers in crime prevention would help raise the overall security of the neighbourhood. The topics touched on included house-breaking and theft, trespassing, outrage of modesty, and dealing with suspicious characters.
