The Home Team Games is an annual Sports Day organised by the Home United Sports and Recreation Association (HUSRA) for Home Team Departments. Its aim? To provide a platform for Home Team officers to foster friendships and bonds through sports—and Home Team News’ Win Soon witnesses how.

Officers gathered at the Home Team Academy field for what would be the final event in this year’s Home Team Games 2013.

After going through the preliminary rounds for the Tug-of-War event, the teams from the Northern and Eastern sectors readied themselves for the final push towards the coveted Champions trophy.

Home Team presently has five sectors – North, South, East, West and maritime – covering the whole of Singapore geographically and centered around Home Team agencies within these sectors.

For the Eastern sector, a win would mean that they would be champions yet again, having achieved the same feat in 2012.

However, that would not be the case this year, as the Northern Sector dug their heels in against the overwhelming favourites, and won the trophy.

Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Mohamed Rosly from Ang Mo Kio North NPC, from the Northern sector said: "The experience of pulling the rope together for tug-of-war as a team was amazing! We had little time to gel as we are all from different Home Team departments, but now I'm glad to say that we've become buddies and will be happy to meet up be it for operations or gatherings!" said the 32-year-old SPF officer.

This epitomizes Home Team Games’ theme of “Strength in Unity,” through the common love for sport.

This year also saw the debut of touch rugby, a game that has garnered attention for its exciting and fast paced game style.

Many officers of the Home Team had trained hard for this day, hoping to bring glory to their respective departments.

Here are the results:
