A fire broke out in St Joseph's Institution (Independent)'s chapel just before noon yesterday.

SJI's spokesman said that the fire started in the sacristy - usually a room in a chapel where vestments and sacred vessels are kept.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed it received a call at 11.56am and sent out a fire engine, Red Rhino, support vehicle and two fire bikes.

The fire was extinguished in 10 minutes with a water jet.

There were no injuries.
