Asian Water Polo Cup: Iran beat S'pore to claim title

Iran edged out Singapore to win the 3rd Asian Water Polo Cup held at Toa Payoh Sports Complex on Saturday.

The match was a tight affair with both teams level after the first period. Singapore were backed by the strong home support.

Eugene Teo was top scorer, claiming two of Singapore's six goals.

In the end it was the Iranians who showed their dominance as they widened the gap towards the closing periods. They eventually won 10-6 to claim the title.

In the women's competition, Singapore cruised to a 21-1 victory over Sri Lanka to claim second overall, while China bagged top spot in the round-robin format.
