Selangor lifted the Sultan of Selangor’s Cup for a sixth time after two goals by Liberia international Francis Doe gave them a 3-2 win over a Singapore S-League Selection at the Shah Alam Stadium yesterday.
It was also the first time Selangor have won the annual fixture in consecutive years as they added to wins in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2012.
Aleksandar Duric's sixth-minute opener for the visitors was cancelled by Adam Griffiths’ header in the 41st minute before Doe scored in the 55th and 74th minutes, either side of a Kamel Ramdani penalty with 20 minutes left.
In the earlier veterans' match, Singapore edged Selangor 1-0 with the winner coming from Rafi Ali in the 17th minute.
Among the stars of yesteryear to feature were Datuk Soh Chin Aun, Rashid Hassan, Dollah Salleh and Zainal Abidin Hassan for Selangor while Fandi Ahmad, Malek Awab and Razali Saad turned out for Singapore.
