On Sep 6, SingPost alerted the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) to the loss of a trolley containing ordinary mail items meant for delivery to six blocks in Woodlands Circle ("Mail theft: Questions from an affected resident" by Mr Christopher Chong; Monday).

We take a very serious view of this incident. As a public postal licensee, SingPost has an obligation under its licence to safeguard the integrity of mail, and ensure that the risk of loss, theft and damage to letters are minimised throughout the entire mail delivery process.

The IDA is conducting its own investigations into the case and will take appropriate actions against SingPost if the investigations show that it breached its licence obligations.
