The late Choo Seng Quee was responsible for building up the careers of many Singapore footballers in the 70s and 80s. Under his guidance, players such as Dollah Kassim, Quah Kim Song and Fandi Ahmad flourished.
Now the memory of Uncle Choo, as he was affectionately known as, will live on at Owen Road.
Ex-national player Syed Mutalib has decided to open a briyani restaurant in memory of the football coach. Situated at 96 Owen Road, the restaurant - The House of Briyani - is a stone's throw away from Choo's former residence at 87A.
The joint venture by Syed Mutalib and his business partners received the backing of the ex-national players who attended the soft launch on Saturday.
"After all, this is memory for all of us especially for Syed Mutalib and company because they have been under Seng Quee," said Fandi.
"I was just a small boy and I was looking up to them and generally I am happy this is well set up."
