A 23-year-old Singaporean tourist nearly drowned off Phuket on Wednesday after he got drunk and ignored warning red flags by heading out to sea.
The Phuket Gazette reported that Mr Lai Yeohchai was rescued by lifeguards when he got into trouble in the water after “drinking for hours” on Surin Beach at the Thai resort island.
When Mr Lai was pulled out of the water, he had swallowed a lot of sea water and had to be taken to hospital, one of the lifeguards told TNP.
The incident comes less than three months after two Singaporean tourists nearly lost their lives in Phuket after similarly ignoring warning flags.
