A trio of armed teenagers burst into the Tom Harris Cellular Store on Rupert St. East Vancouver (British Columbia) store Monday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. brandishing a gun and a knife, then demanded employees hand over the sought-after Apple iPhone 5s smart phones.

But supplies of the 5s have been limited, and there was only one unit left at that location. The robbers became agitated so they tied the workers’ hands behind their backs and eventually settled for stealing the one iPhone 5s, 10 other phones, the cash from the till and whatever they could get from employees, including some loose pocket change.

The boys then loaded into a stolen getaway car and tried to flee, but Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague said they quickly got snarled in traffic and abandoned the vehicle.

Officers caught two 17-year-old suspects near the scene but a third remains on the loose.
