Cats are no longer free to roam in one Washington state city

Last week, the Edmonds City Council (WA state) voted 6-1 to include cats on an ordinance that prevents animals from roaming freely in the city.

Last year, the council excluded the cats from the ordinance, but the public who came to speak at last week's council meeting disagreed with that decision.

My Edmonds News reported that numerous speakers attended the council meeting on August 20 ask the council to include cats in the ordinance; bringing up health issues, dangers to cats, bird and wildlife impacts and other issues related to free-roaming cats.
