17-year-old youth arrested for allegedly molesting woman on train

A 17-year-old youth was arrested after a woman accused him of molesting her on an MRT train.

At about 8.20pm on August 13, police were informed of a case of outrage of modesty on board a north-bound MRT train. Officers from the Police Transport Security Command and Ang Mo Kio Police Division responded swiftly and the suspect was placed under arrest.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had raised the alarm and informed a fellow passenger on the train when she felt her modesty was being outraged by the youth. The passenger then helped detain the suspect, together with the train station staff, until the police arrived.

Investigations against the 17-year-old are on-going.
