Singapore U-23 to play Indonesia for SEA Games warm-up

Indonesia Under-23 coach Rahmad Darmawan revealed on Friday (May 31) that his squad will play a two-legged friendly match against Singapore on June 8 and July 15, as part of their preparations for the upcoming SEA Games at the end of the year in Myanmar.

The first match on June 8 will be played at the Manahan stadium in Solo while the return match will be hosted by Singapore in July.

The Singapore side will be led by LionsXII coach and former Singapore international V.Sundramoorthy as revealed by Football Association of Singapore (FAS) during the unveiling of the new senior national team coach Bernd Stange earlier in the month.

Rahmad plans to call a total of 67 players from the Indonesia Super League, Indonesia Premier League, Divisi Utama and CS Vise (Belgium), with the selection being done in four stages.

For the initial squad, Rahmad has called-up several experienced young players such as Hendra Adi Bayauw (Semen Padang), Rasyid Assahid Bakrie (PSM), Agung Supriyanto (Persijap) and Syaiful Indra Cahya (Persema).

The four players were also part of Indonesia Under-22 team during the AFC U22 Asia Cup qualifiers a year ago in Pekanbaru, Indonesia.

Also included for the first stage of the selection process are players from the second tier Divisi Utama league and Abdul Rahman Lestaluhu and Manahati Lestusen from Belgium club CS Visse.
