Man sentenced 3 years' jail, 4 strokes cane for molesting daughter

A father of three was sentenced on Tuesday to three years' jail and four strokes of the cane for molesting his daughter.

The 49-year-old divorcee molested the child twice in 2010; once when she was nine years old in February 2010 and once after she turned 10 in December 2010. Both offences happened in their home at Tanglin Halt Road.

A third similar charge was taken into consideration.

In mitigation, the jobless man's lawyer said his client realises the gravity of the offences. The lawyer added that the accused is very angry with himself and misses his children.
