An officer with a history of disciplinary problems was charged Thursday with five counts of attempted murder after firebombing his captain’s house.

Michael Dotro, 35, allegedly used an incendiary device to set fire to the home of Captain Mark Anderko Monday morning, according to NJ.com.

Anderko, his wife, his two young children and his 92-year-old mother all escaped unharmed, but their home was badly damaged.

“I’ve spoken to him, and he adamantly denies any involvement and expresses his condolences to the Anderko family. He is sickened at the thought of someone doing this to a brother officer, or anyone else, for that matter,” lawyer Lawrence Bitterman said.

Dotro has previously been accused of brutality, assault, and the theft of a police car, but has never been charged, according to the article.
