The Newcastle Jets will fly home on Monday as Singapore Soccer Sixes champions after beating Chonburi FC of Thailand 4-1 in Sunday’s grand final.

Goals from Taylor Regan (two), James Brown and Sam Gallaway sealed Newcastle’s victory in the tournament decider.

The Jets won all three of their group games on Saturday, finishing on top of Group B with a goal difference of plus-13.

The Jets beat Group C runners-up Hong Kong FC (A) 4-0 in the quarter-finals, after goals by Ruben Zadkovich, Brown, Jacob Pepper and new recruit Joey Gibbs.

They trailed the Singapore under-21 national team 1-0 in the semi-final, but equalised through a Zadkovich free kick and then Regan scored the winner.

Regan carried that form into the decider, scoring Newcastle’s first and third goals.

The Jets opted to donate their $1500 prizemoney to a children’s orphanage.
