Police Officer Al Morhidge, age 71, of Ohio
Singapore's Home Affairs Ministry is in talks with the Public Service Division to review the retirement ages of its uniformed personnel.

Currently, Junior Officers retire at age 50 and Senior Officers retire at 55.

In the last five years, about 200 uniformed officers retired each year and about half of them were re-employed. In each of the coming years, about 150 Junior Officers and 30 Senior Officers will reach retirement age.

Many of the officers are still physically fit and wish to continue working and contributing to the Home Team. Therefore, the ministry will study how to allow officers to serve longer, and contribute with their knowledge, experience and expertise amassed over an extensive career.
