Stomper Madam Lim had caught a 15-year-old girl who took a handbag from her Far East Plaza shop without paying and subsequently suffered bruises and bites on her arm when she attempted to restrain her.

She said the confrontation was so violent that it even left her with fractures.

"She came into my shop on March 1 at about 6pm (and) took a dress and wanted to try it on. I assisted her, and she asked me to find another dress for her. While I was browsing which dress to recommend to her, I saw her remove a bag on my mannequin and swiftly close up the fitting room curtain.

"Subsequently she walked out of my shop saying 'thank you' a few times. My sixth sense told me something was wrong. I double-checked if the bag was placed back onto the mannequin, as some customers will do that, but it wasn't there.

"I made a frantic search and then at a distance from where I was standing, she walked past another shop, saw me looking at her, and at that split second I knew I had to give chase.

"She ran to the UOB and DBS atm machines and to the back of the machines which is a dark area below the stairs. She threw the bag out on the floor and tried to escape. I held on to her and she began struggling, biting me, pushing, wrestling, whatever you can name.

"I knew I had to find help because I couldn't take her strength any more, so I pulled her into a shop and the salesgirl helped me stall her. My shop's neighbour came in and she went up to get the security. She also helped me to retrieve the bag that the girl threw because I had to get hold of her so the bag was still there."

When the mall security arrived, Madam Lim said the girl told her arrogantly that since she was not caught on CCTV, nothing could be done to her.

After the police arrived, the girl denied that she stole the bag and claimed Madam Lim had falsely accused her of stealing the bag.

"She is not remorseful at all!," Madam Lim said.

However, the mall security later managed to secure the evidence after they checked the CCTV around the area where the confrontation occurred.

"Initially I thought the injuries were only on my limbs. But I went for a check-up just now, the doctor found that I have scratches on my neck and I'm suffering from fractures on my arms," she said.
